Today, a 90-year old Supreme Court Justice retired.
The man's name is John Paul Stevens. Although he sounds like an early Beatles collaborator, I'm assured by Reuters he was, in fact, one of his country's leading jurists. He reigned for 34 years, and was appointed by a Republican president, Gerald Ford. This made his support for reform all the more surprising.
I'm officially surprised.
Glory is fleeting. Obscurity lasts forever.
